The Bluetooth SIG strongly recommends that each member ensures that their products adhere to each applicable Expedited Erratum (e.g., Erratum 10734).
The Expedited Erratum is required when a new product qualification is created that combines or integrates with; an existing qualification that supports a Specification version and one or more Specification Parts that are impacted by the changes described within the erratum (for example, the new product qualification is combined with a component that supports a Core version impacted by the erratum.)
The Expedited Erratum is not required when a new product qualification is created that references an existing qualification that supports a Specification version and one or more Specification Parts impacted by the changes described within the erratum. (for example, the new product is referencing a subsystem, and there are no changes to the Bluetooth implementation of the subsystem using a Core version impacted by the errata.)
There are a few ways members can support one or more Expedited Erratum in their product qualification. Members with an existing qualification completed before the introduction of the Expedited Erratum may indicate support for the Expedited Erratum in their product qualification by:
- Completing a reassessment to the latest qualification requirements, or
- Completing a new Qualification with Required Testing and obtaining a new QDID for downstream members to integrate or reference
Members creating new product qualifications that combine or integrate an existing qualification that was completed before the introduction of the Expedited Erratum may indicate support for the Expedited Erratum in their product qualification by:
- Requesting the existing qualification owner to support the erratum (e.g., Reassessment, New Qualification), or
- Implementing the erratum and executing any new or updated test cases associated with the erratum, or
- Implementing the erratum and obtaining test evidence for any new or updated test cases associated with the erratum from the existing qualification owner
For errors detected in the Bluetooth Test documents or Bluetooth Test Equipment, a TSE can be raised with an associated Test Coverage Waiver to provide relief from these errors. Once the TCW is approved, it may allow the member to continue Qualification without undue delays. Further details about how a TCW may be used can be found in Section 3.1.8 of the Qualification Program Reference Document (PRD).
