What is a Subset?
A subset is an implementation of a Qualified Design that disables one or more profiles, protocols, roles, or optional features that still meets the definition of the Product Type of the original declaration. You can remove any optional profiles/features by creating a subset of your listing.
Once your subset is completed, you can then add products that utilize this design by indicating the subset ID number when adding a product to a listing.
How Do I Create a Subset?
To subset a design, click on the My Listings tab on the Launch Studio home page.
Identify the project to be subsetted and click on the project's Design Name or Declaration ID. This will open the project's Listing Details page.
The project's Listing Details page has two "Create a Subset" buttons. The first button is located under Declaration Details at the top of the page. The second button is located under Subsetted Qualified Designs at the bottom of the page. Click either one.
Enter a Subset name.
On the screen, the Qualified Design ID (QDID) will auto-populate along with the project's name. If the original project has more than one QDID, select one for the subset. If the original project has one QDID, the QDID cannot be changed.
Click Create Subset.
To continue, click Save and Continue at the bottom of the screen or select the next tab at the top.
Layer Selection
Select the product's capabilities in the Layer Selection phase. The subset must still meet the same product type definition as the qualified design being subsetted.
De-select layers as necessary. Subsets will have different layer requirements depending on the existing qualified design to be subsetted. Only layers, profiles, or services outside the Core specification can be de-selected.
When properly completed, there will be a detailed declaration of what the product supports.
To continue, you may click the button at the bottom of the screen or the next tab at the top.
ICS Selection
Ensure all capabilities and dependencies are valid by running a Consistency Check in the Implementation Conformance Statement (ICS) Selection phase.
Click the Consistency Check button. A modal will pop up with the results of the check.
Resolve the inconsistencies by unchecking boxes as necessary.
After selecting or unselecting an item, refresh the consistency report. Continue until all inconsistencies are resolved.
To continue, click either the button at the bottom of the screen or the next tab at the top.
Product Declaration
Click Add a Product at the bottom of the screen to describe the product(s) submitted for qualification based on the subset.
Enter the product's full name. The product name should be the commercial name, including the company's trademark. Customs officials may compare the name that appears on your product packaging with the Product Full Name listed in the Bluetooth® Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) database.
Select a product category.
Enter the product's website.
Select the publish date. The publish date is when the product information may become visible to the public in the Bluetooth SIG's database. The publish date must be after the Listing Date associated with the existing qualified design being subsetted, but no more than 90 days from the day The subsetted project is submitted.
Enter the product's description.
Enter the product's model number.
Click Save. The product is now listed at the bottom of the page.
Review and Submit
Confirm the information is complete and correct before submitting the project to the Bluetooth SIG.
Read and acknowledge the statements at the bottom of the page by clicking the boxes next to each statement.
Type a name or other symbol of signature into the box. The "Signature Confirmed" button becomes active once a name has been entered and all the statements acknowledged. Click the "Signature Confirmed" button to submit.
Once the project is submitted, it is locked. To make changes, create a new subset. Submitted subset projects cannot be unlocked.
After submitting, there is confirmation the project has been submitted. Download the documentation. Keep a copy of this documentation in a Compliance Folder.
