Supplier Updated QDID for Existing Product

Bluetooth Products must be qualified on or before the date that you begin to sell or distribute the product. Products that have been previously qualified may occasionally be updated with new parts, components, or software from a supplier. If those updates result in changes to the product’s Bluetooth design (new QDID, ICS changes), a new qualification for that product is required.

Examples:

Scenario 1: You previously qualified Bluetooth headphones using a module (QDID 123) provided by your supplier. The supplier has discontinued that module, and you must source a new module to continue manufacturing your headphones. Your supplier provides a new module (QDID 456) which you integrate into your headphone product. Because the QDID of the module in your product has changed, you will need to complete a new qualification to reflect the change to the product.

Scenario 2: You previously qualified a personal computer product using a Bluetooth module (QDID 123) and a preinstalled operating system (QDID 456). The operating system developer has issued an update that includes changes to the Bluetooth implementation, which you will preinstall on your personal computer. The supplier provided a new QDID for their operating system (QDID 789). As you are distributing the product with the updated operating system version, you will need to complete a new qualification to reflect the change to the product.
