Export search results in Jira

Jira offers several options for exporting search results, and all or select data for the filtered errata/issues, to another format.

Xporter

Xporter allows users to export data to PDF, XLSX, or CSV files based on pre-existing templates. To export via Xporter, filter down to the errata/issues needed for the export, then click the blue arrowhead icon at the top of the Search page.

Select a template; this template will determine what data is exported. For example, select “Errata list” for a summarized, clean spreadsheet of the filtered issues/errata and common data points. Then select the Output Format from the drop-down menu.

Click the Export button and save the file.

Excel

To export to Microsoft Excel, filter down to the errata/issues needed for the export, then click the green Excel icon at the top of the Search page.

The export will ask whether to open the spreadsheet in Excel Desktop (on the user’s local machine) or Excel Online (i.e., in the browser). Select the option that best meets your needs.

The Excel spreadsheet export contains specific data points: Issue Type, Key, Summary, Status, Date Requested, Created, and Errata Tool ID.

Google Sheets

To export to Google Sheets, filter down to the errata/issues needed for the export, then click the green Google Sheets icon at the top of the Search page.

Jira will prompt the user to sign into their Google account to access Google Sheets, and they will need to agree to access permissions.

Other export options

Jira offers multiple export options in addition to those identified above, including exports to XML, HTML, Word, Excel CSV (default fields and all fields).

To export to any of these additional options, filter down to the errata/issues needed for the export, then click the Export button at the top of the search page. Select the export type from the drop-down menu.

Note: For a comprehensive export of all data points in Jira, select “Export Excel CSV (all fields)”. This will include all of the possible fields for an erratum/issue.
