Create an erratum or issue in Jira

Users can create any of the following in the Errata System:

See the Errata Process Document (EPD) for detailed information on errata reporting and processing, including workflows for each type of errata or waiver.

Specification

To create an erratum or issue for a specification:

  1. Click the Create button at the top of the page

  2. In the Summary field, type a title for the erratum/issue.
  3. Select the Affected Document from the drop-down menu (e.g., Profile > BAP).

  4. In the Document Status drop-down, select “Draft” to file an issue or “Approved” to file an erratum.
  5. In Affected Version(s), add the version or draft of the specification this erratum/issue affects (e.g., BAS v1.0, Denver r07).
  6. In Affected Section Number(s), type in the section number(s) for the section(s) the erratum/issue affects. Users can also add the section title(s) to the Title of Affected Section(s) field, if needed.
  7. In the Initial Problem Statement & Proposed Change field, describe the purpose of the erratum/issue and the proposed solution (or refer to the attachment if the solution is detailed in a Word document or an FRD).
  8. Select “Technical” or “Editorial” from the Change Type field depending on how the erratum/issue ought to be classified. If selecting “Technical”, indicate its level of Severity in the Severity drop-down.
  9. Make selections in the remaining optional fields as needed.
  10. If this issue is related to another existing erratum/issue, go to the Linked Issues drop-down, select “relates to”, and type in the existing errata ID. Users can also indicate whether an erratum/issue is blocked by another, etc., using these drop-down lists.

  11. Add the attachment(s) if needed.
  12. Click Create.

Test documents associated with a specification

To create an erratum for the test documents associated with a specification:

  1. Click the Create button at the top of the page.
  2. Select “Test Set Errata” from the “Issue type” drop-down.

  3. In the Summary field, type a title for the erratum.
  4. Select “Core” or “External to Core” from the Layer drop-down, then select the part of Core or the specification associated with the test documents.
  5. In Affected Test Document Version(s), add the version or draft of the test document this erratum affects.
  6. Select the section(s) of the test document this erratum affects from the Test Section Affected drop-down. Users are able to select more than one of the sections listed.
  7. In Affected Test Case(s), identify the specific test case(s) this erratum affects.
  8. In the Initial Problem Statement field, describe the purpose of the erratum.
  9. In the Initial Proposed Change field, describe the proposed solution to the problem described in the last step (or refer to the attachment if the solution is detailed in a Word document or an FRD).
  10. If this issue is related to another existing erratum/issue, select the applicable association from the Linked Issues drop-down (e.g., “blocks”, “Has Waiver”, “tests”) and type in the existing errata ID.

  11. Add the attachment(s) if needed.
  12. Click Create.
